During the summer, KNO started working on a new long-term project funded by the American government in Vietnam. As always, the focus of the work is performance improvement and capacity development.
The initial organizations we are working with include non-profit groups who are working in the areas of supporting people with disabilities and family health. It is estimated that 15% of the population are disabled. The goal is to strengthen their management and operations abilities to provide services to these customers.
Over the next couple of years we will be supporting a local project office and building up a team of local consultants to provide ongoing support to our clients. It is anticipated that over this time we will also work with organizations active in climate change and economic development.
Vietnam has a population of almost 100 million in a land mass just 4 times larger than Ireland. Although many people live in urban areas, agriculture is still a major mainstay in rural communities.
Areas of emphasis such as supporting people with disabilities are quite complex with a wide variety of government, non-profit and academic support. Using performance improvement principles, the key is to take systemic approaches in insure advice takes into account all the relevant influences.
